History of the Gathering of Nations in Albuquerque
The Gathering of Nations was created 35 years ago with the purpose of honoring the traditions and lifestyles of tribes around the country. Since then, it has grown steadily over the years and become one of the nation’s largest ingenious events. The respect and support participants show to each other create a warm, welcoming environment that draws thousands of people every year. More and more activities have also been added to the event throughout the years including a regalia parade, a Miss Indian pageant, and unique markets. Everything You Need to Know About the Gathering of Nations 2018
The Gathering of Nations events begin on Thursday, April 26th and continue into Saturday, April 28th. The festival will be hosted at the Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Advance tickets for this event can be ordered online.
Events & Things to Do
Gathering of Nations 2018 kicks off Thursday evening with the amazing Miss Indian World Traditional Talent Presentations. Friday’s festivities will begin bright and early with some spirited performances followed by drum and dancing competitions after lunch. Friday evening continues with competitive dances, including a dance competition by the Miss Indian World contestants, and the Horse & Rider Regalia Parade. These performances and competitions continue through Saturday, finishing with award presentations and the crowning of Miss Indian World. The announcement of the winners of each competition will also be made at this time. Throughout the entire event, artists and traders will offer their gorgeous handmade crafts and foods. This is a wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself in music and cultures from all over the world!
