Pattin Auction has an antiques auction about every two weeks in Albuquerque, and we’ve gotten some nice pieces for the B&B there. They also hold a huge antiques auction on New Year’s Day every year, bringing in several large truck loads from around the country. They always have incredible items–one year a fully restored Amish dairy wagon!–and you can see photos of some of the items here. You can find everything from chandeliers to guns, dolls to armoires, china and vintage Coca-Cola signs.
Whether you’re looking for something in particular, just want to see some great items, would like to attend an auction (fascinating!), or just want something new and different to do on New Year’s Day, the antiques auction is a great choice.
The auction begins at 10:00 a.m. on New Year’s Day, Thursday, January 1st. You’ll want to get there earlier to get a seat and also hear the rules of the auction before it begins. It’s standing room only if you arrive late. The doors open at 9:00 a.m., so you can preview the items to see if you’re interested in staying and bidding. There is also a preview on Wednesday, December 31st, from noon to 4:00 p.m.
518 Haines Avenue NW (just south of I-40 between 5th & 6th)
I always go to see what they have, just in case something speaks to me: “take me home–I’d be perfect there!”
