When we stayed at the Renaissance Hotel in Austin for the innkeeping conference, one of the sessions I attended was in the conference center adjacent to the hotel. I used the ladies room after the session and walked into one of the most beautiful restrooms I’ve ever seen.
While the stalls and toilets weren’t anything spectacular, the sink area was magnificent. The sink appeared to be a hammered bronze raised bowl. The entire counter and front of the cabinet was glass in which ferns had been embedded, and the entire unit was lit from the inside. It was so striking, I was speechless. After all, how often do you take a photo of a restroom?
Did this restroom counter cost more than one made of a granite slab? Maybe, maybe not. But some designer thought to do something very different and took this restroom from utilitarian to breathtaking.
I’m having fun–come on along!
