A couple of months ago, a new neighbor moved into the little house next door. She’s a surveyor, so we see her off and on, depending on where and when her job takes her. She had also told me she performs in Old Town on Saturdays. She goes to the farmers’ market downtown first thing in the morning on Saturday, then usually performs at noon in Patio Market. We’ve never had a chance to hear her sing until today.
Holy cow! She opened her mouth and this deep, rich voice came pouring out, full of the emotion and soulful expression of traditional New Mexican folk songs.
